Winter is the season for inside work. Seal the drafts, check the safety items, then knock out the jobs you put off while it was warm. Chesterfield and Maryland Heights are two of the places we work most in West County.
1. Stop the drafts
Feel along the bottom of exterior doors and around windows on a cold, windy day. A new door sweep, weatherstripping and fresh caulk around windows are quick jobs that keep the cold out. Outside, protect your outdoor faucets before the first hard freeze.
2. Safety checks
Test every smoke detector and change the batteries when the clocks go back in November. Make sure handrails on stairs are solid before the ice arrives.
3. Inside jobs for cold days
Drywall patches and paint, curtain rods and blinds, a new light fixture or ceiling fan, LVP in place of worn carpet (what drives LVP cost). These don't depend on the weather, so they are a good fit for winter.
